You've had your colors done, but now what? How do you transform your closet into a replica of your color fan? Follow our simple steps for the perfect closet makeover.

closet pic copy.jpg

  • Remove colors from your closet that are not on your color fan. Do not let yourself be tempted by clothing that makes you look less than your best.
  • Keep your color fan nearby! It should be your constant shopping companion and will keep you from being tempted to purchase the wrong colors.
  • Don't get stuck in a shopping rut. Your best colors may not be in the same store each season. Broaden your horizons by trying out new shops.
  • Stop buying pieces just because they are on sale if they are not in your best colors.
  • Don't let the sales person talk you into making a poor color purchase. Sales associates are not trained in color theory. P.S. They work on commission.

If you are having trouble finding or purchasing your colors, hire a Stoltz Image Consultant for a personal shopping session. It may take time, but when your closet looks like your color fan, it will make dressing quick, easy, and stress free!

My clients are always amazed and excited when I create a fashionably Thumbnail image for Leopard Outfit.jpgfabulous outfit just for them! I hear, "I never would have put that together!" They always want to know if there is a formula for constructing chic ensembles. Here are my rules for coordinating outfits to help you get started on your fall wardrobe. (Refer to the picture on the left as an example.)

  • Begin by selecting a main item of clothing to build your outfit around. (I used my fun leopard print jacket.) You can even build an outfit around a favorite pair of shoes or a handbag.
  • Create a layered look by adding a jacket, cardigan, or camisole for dimension and interest. (I added a black camisole under my jacket.)
  • Always include 1 solid (a non-pattern, like my black skirt and camisole). This will ground your outfit instead of overpowering it with print.
  • Incorporate 1 to 2 patterns into every outfit to create interest. If patterns are not your preference, add a statement necklace or earring to keep your outfit from appearing boring.
  • An outfit should include 2 to 3 main colors. Jewelry, shoes, or a handbag can count as a color (like my gold necklace and bangle).
  • Try to repeat each main color at least once. This will pull your outfit together and make each color seem like it has purpose. (By adding gold shoes, I repeated the gold jewelry.)

Still stuck in an outfit rut? Don't stress. Everyone has different talents. (Psst. I can't add!) If you need help, call a Stoltz Image Consultant. Creating outfits is our thing!

Trend Overload!

By Lauren

Each season, there seems to be at least one trend that gets put on overload.  ItMaxi starts out as fun and funky and quickly manifests to a full blown fashion phenomenon.  As soon as I see it in the window of Forever 21, I know it 's the beginning of the end.

This spring/summer it was the maxi dress.  Now I love a great maxi, but I can tell that by next spring, I am going to want to Bolerobanish them to the back of the closet.

Even better, think several years back to the shrug and bolero.  They were huge!  We paired them with dresses, skirts, and jeans.  But, I eventually just wanted them to go away.  I remember seeing people walking around in their boleros several seasons past their prime.  They needed an intervention.  Please, put the bolero down!

UggsWhat about Uggs paired with miniskirts?  We were all so very trendy when the strangeness started, but all I can think about now is how cold we must have looked.

The problem with the trend overload is that as quickly as it comes in style, it goes out.  And, if we hang onto it too long, we lose that fashion credibility that may have sparked our interest in the fad in the first place.

But, what are we to do with the remnants?  All of those trendy pieces that we just didn't feel that we got our wear out of.  Here's your answer: don't spend a ton of money on fading fashions.  If you love a trend, buy it cheap, but don't invest in the designer duds.

So what should you watch out for this fall/winter season?  I predict that the fast Plaidfading fashion will be plaid.  It's hitting the stores in full force, and, yes, you can even catch a glimpse of it at Forever 21.  Buy cheap ladies.  But don't stress when your favorite trend has run its course.  The thing about fashion trends is that there is always a new one to try.

Fashion Police!

anna-faris.jpgHave you ever seen a picture of yourself and quickly realized that your outfit wasn't quite as fabulous as you thought?  I have a suspicion that this may be just how Anna Faris and Jessica Simpson feel after seeing themselves in this dress.  Surely, this dress wouldn't flatter anyone if it doesn't compliment these beautiful celebrities.  So what are the major problems causing these two lovelies to look like fashion victims?

Problem #1:  Horizontal Strips. Ouch!  Talk about expanding a space.  Anna and Jessica's waistlines are all but gone in these pictures because the stripes are widening and shortening them.  And since Jessica is already curvy, the stripes are exaggerating her hips and bust in an unnecessary way.  Too much of a good thing!

Problem #2:  Length.  Just look at the length of Anna Faris's dress.  It's in the mid calf range, which means the frumpy zone!  She has lost her leg line and is diminishing it further with her shoes that wrap around the ankle.

Problem #3:  Color.  Neither of these blonde beauties looks good in this dark and/or bold of colors.  They are completely overpowered by the strong pattern and colors of their dresses.

Have you seen a fashion victim lately?  Do share.  Let's save the world one bad outfit at a time.

Put Your Best Face Forward!

Dr. Richard T. Ethridge, Fort Worth Plastic Surgeon, is offering special considerations for Stoltz Image Consulting's clients and friends during the months of August and September.

Especially for Stoltz Image Consulting's Clients & Friends:

  • Longer, Thicker, Darker Lashes! $20 Rebate on Latisse (With consultation.  Offer available while supplies last).

Latisse solution is a prescription treatment for hypotrichosis (inadequate or not enough eyelashes) used to grow eyelashes, making them longer, thicker, and darker.  View before and after photos.

  • Smooth Expressions! $50 Rebate on Botox (With consultation.  Offer available through September 2009).

Facial wrinkles result from repetitive contractions of the muscles from facial expressions.  Botox was approved by the FDA in 2002 to treat facial wrinkles, and since that time, the use of Botox has become one of the most popular non-surgical procedures in the United States.  Botox works to reduce static facial lines through the inhibition of local muscle activity.  The goal of the treatment is to reduce the static lines without removing your ability to express your emotions.  This goal can easily be achieved with careful analysis of your face and discussion about your expectations.

  • Full Lips, Fresh For Fall! September Special: Juvederm, Buy One Syringe and Get One 50% off (With consultation.  Offer available through September 2009).

Juvederm is a soft tissue filler.  A viscoelastic gel made of hyaluronic acid, Juvederm allows quick and noticeable corrections without the need of a skin test.  It is injected just under the skin's surface at intervals along the wrinkle line.  Soft tissue fillers can be used to "fill" and smooth out deep facial furrows, acne scars, and smile lines.  They can also be used to enhance the border of the lips for those who desire a fuller look.  Treatments take less than half an hour and may require a local anesthetic to numb the area.

*Call Ethridge Plastic Surgery today for your consultation, 817-921-5566, or visit www.drethridge.com.

Every year when the fashion forecasting articles being to surface, Lauren and I get very excited to see the new trends for the season.  We scan the magazines looking for fashion and makeup ideas.  But, we have noticed that even though the clothing changes from season to season, one trend will not go away.  Nude makeup colors.

Clients come into the studio asking for nude lips, bronzer instead of blush, and black smoky eye makeup.  The problem with this style of makeup is that it is not actually meant to be a trend.  Yes, we see it on all of the models while they walk down the runway, but there is a secret behind this look, and it isn't so flattering.

Have you noticed that models are getting plainer, blonder, and skinnier?  This is because fashion designers do not want the focus to be on the models at all.  Instead, they want us to be looking at their clothing.  The models wear nude lipstick and bronzer so that their faces will not show up on the runway or in pictures.  Their hair is bleached out or slicked back so that it fades into the background, and their eye makeup is black so that you cannot see their pretty eye color.  Our eyes cannot focus in on the faces of these models because there is nothing interesting about their faces once they are runway ready.  Therefore, we focus on the clothing, which is exactly what the designers intended.

Do you want your face to blend into the background, or do you want to look as beautiful as your clothing.  Make sure that you wear makeup colors that will highlight your best features.  If you need help in determining what makeup colors to wear, contact the studio to make an appointment with a Stoltz Image Makeup Artist.  We will help you look beautiful!

Like my clients, I am always looking for ideas to make packing easier.  The other day, my Vibran-C Lip Treatment had run out down to the bottom of the tube, and I noticed that there was a lot of extra product left in the base.  I didn't want to waste it, so I dug it out with a small spatula.

Then, there was a problem.  What to do with the extra Vibran-C?  I was digging around in "junk drawer" and found a spare contact case.  Wha La!  It worked perfectly.  I don't know why I had never thought of it before.  Now I just have to make sure to remember my own travel tip for my next trip.

P.S. Contact cases are also perfect for storing skin care and makeup when you are traveling.

"I recently went on a trip after taking the Travel Workshop.  It was the first time in 24 years that I didn't have a bulging suitcase!  The packing tips I learned made packing so easy I didn't even have to sit on my suitcase to close it.  When my husband and I got to the airport, my suitcase was 4 pounds under, and his suitcase was overweight!  The best part was my clothes didn't even wrinkle.  Everyone needs to learn how to pack like a Stoltz Image Consultant!"  --R. C.
